A live virtual course covering advanced aspects of sexual safety suitable for managers, supervisors and leadership staff whether you are clinical or non-clinical.
The course will be held live on the date below and will be hosted by Dr Becky Cox and Dr Chelcie Jewitt, the co-founders of Surviving in Scrubs, using their lived experience, clinical work, and campaign knowledge to educate.
Date: Friday 27th June 2025
Time: 9:30am
Access: virtual meeting link to be sent after booking.
Course outline:
- First Disclosure Training: A detailed look at how a survivor may present, what their needs are and how to meet these during a first disclosure. We use a case to model this encounter and work through the steps, providing you with a structure to use with recommendations for language and phrases.
- Responding to a report of sexual violence: This is the next step on from first disclosure. We use cases to work through the options to support a survivor and the pathway to raise a concern. We will equip you with knowledge of reporting systems, legal requirements for information sharing, how to provide support, identify risk, and support the survivor to make an informed decision about whether to progress a disclosure.
- Changing the Healthcare Culture: A high level discussion of the systems and strategies that need to be in place to prevent sexual misconduct in the healthcare workplace, the new legal duty to prevent sexual harassment, and how this can be implemented in your organisation.
This course meets the standards of NHS England’s Sexual Safety Charter Assurance Framework.
Each course is CPD accredited and certificates will be given at the end.
